The Ugly, the Bad and the Beautiful
Life may seem a little gruff right now. Everything may seem
tangled, rotten and ugly. You may have a sickness that is ravaging your body and
what was once so beautiful is destroying itself. You may be going through hard
and rocky mountain trials and you wonder will you ever reach the peak. Well Jesus knows the very spot where you are, for he was there.
He was despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and
acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was
despised, and we esteemed him not.
Surely he hath borne
our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of
God, and afflicted.
But he was wounded
for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of
our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. (Isaiah 53:3-5)
The beauty of Christ’s story which is the guide for our lives
is that it ends in beauty. Furthermore, Christ not only experienced pain, but
joy on earth. He experienced laughter, the fulfillment of healing those who
were broken and sick, friendship, peace and ultimate fellowship with the
father. Just as he experienced all these things we can on earth alongside
trials. We can be happy, whole and at
peace on earth amidst the pain, trials and hardship. His crucifixion was ugly,
but it ended in ultimate beauty. He died but resurrected beautiful, bright and
shining and ascended back to heaven. God not only knows where you are, but where you will be.
But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.(1 Corinthians 2:9)
