The Art of Waiting: 5 Ways to Wait Patiently

The Art of Waiting: 5 Ways to Wait Patiently

Most of us are in a waiting period regarding some aspect of our life; whether it’s a job, or a spouse, or children, or an acceptance letter for college, or an answer from the Lord. In some aspect most are waiting for something. But how can we wait patiently? Here are 3 steps to waiting patiently.

         1.       Relax
Psalm 37:7 says,”Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him.” God knows that we are frail beings in  and of ourselves, and we can grow faint in the area of waiting, but it’s very important to just relax  and breathe and allow the Lord to move on our behalf in His timing. God will make everything  beautiful in his timing (Ecclesiastes 3:11). And "to everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven... (Ecclesiastes 3:1)

         2.      Pray
So often we go about our daily lives forgetting to pray when anxious feelings attempt to overwhelm     us but Phillipians 4:6 says, "Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God . And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." When we find ourselves     growing restless, prayer is the key to waiting patiently. When we present our anxious feelings to         God in prayer, we no longer have to carry the weight of those feelings around.

        3.      Trust in the Lord
When we have been waiting for a while, the temptation arises to allow our intellect to reason why we   haven’t received an answer. But His ways are not our ways and God’s thoughts are not our thoughts.   (Isaiah 55:8) We cannot see the beginning from the end, but God can and he has a plan for our lives.   For 1 Corinthians 2:19 reads, "Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart  of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him."Therefore we need to Trust in the   LORD with all our heart; and lean not to our own understanding (Proverbs 3:5). Even when we don’t understand. God will always open doors in the right timing that no man can close. For Lamentations 3:25-26 says, "The Lord is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him. It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the Lord."

"Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass." Psalm 37:5
