Top Five Verses for 2016

1. Walk by faith not by sight. (2 Corinthians 5:7) It is easy to go by feelings, or what you see.
If we are going to walk into our destinies in 2016 we have to stand on the word of God
and nothing else. We can’t stand on feelings, what we see, what we hear.
We have got to stand on the word of God.

2. Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts. (Zechariah 4:6)
If we are going to move forward in victory, we have to rely on the spirit of God.
We can’t rely on our strength or power, but on God’s spirit.
f we stay full of the spirit we can walk in victory no matter how tired or weary
we may become along life’s journey. Let’s move forward in victory!

3. O give thanks unto the Lord; call upon his name: make his deeds among the people.
Psalm 105:1 Continue to share the gospel with other people. Share with those around you
what God is doing in your life. In this verse it doesn’t just refer to other believers
but to the people that you encounter. Let others know how God is moving in your life.

4. Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned: (1 Timothy 1:5) We must continue to walk in love as we keep our hearts
pure before God in the new year. The commandments are bottled into two which are simply put love God and love others.

5. Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the
same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined
together in the same mind and in the same judgment. 1 Cor. 1:10 In the new year let’s
strive to live at peace with all men and work together in unity. If we are going to
walk in unity it may mean compromise on many levels, but if we walk in peace
with each other there will be a greater harvest of God’s joy in our lives.

New Year's Resolution

New Year's Resolution

I've never been one to make resolutions for the new year but I do have some areas that I'd like to see strengthened in the new year. So I decided to make a list of things that I'd like to focus on in the new year. So here goes!

1. Transparency
You've probably heard this buzzword recently. Transparency means easy to perceive or detect. Basically I can be hard to read at times. I think that transparency comes in handy when it comes to our love walk. We want to love generously so that our love for others can remain transparent. The bible says let your love be without dissimulation. Dissimulation means concealment of one's thoughts, feelings, or character; pretense. Sometimes we can build up a wall of protection around ourselves that causes us to push others away without even realizing it. Transparency is needed when you're showing love to others. Have you ever heard someone say, I can tell you don't like me. When in fact you do? That shows that your love is not transparent. As christians, we have to show our love for one another openly or we may give off the wrong impression. I'll leave you with this verse from 1 Timothy 1:5 which reads, "Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned."

2. Punctuality
Blame it on personality or on your laid back mentality, but some of the world's population has difficulty with being on time. Being on time is a strange phenomena when you consider all of the obstacles that may occur on any given commute, but nevertheless if you plan ahead you can be on time for just about any occasion. I unfortunately haven't learned this habit, but this new year I want to start arriving early or at least on time for my engagements. I have already started to a certain degree to do this and it has been a success and it just feels great to be able to arrive on time for events.

3. Serving Others
I will continue to serve others, but I would love to serve others in a greater capacity by sharing what God has shown to me with others and start to disciple others. In addition to being mentored, I would like to mentor others and maybe make some dreams along this line become a reality at school if it is God's will and timing. I also understand that in order to do this I will have to become flexible with my time and remain open to the Lord's leading on a daily basis. If I have a schedule that I'm going by, most likely I won't be willing to change it at the last minute, but if it becomes a tentative schedule I will be willing to stay open.

4. Grow in God
I want to grow in the grace of God this year as I become molded into the image of his Son. 1 Corinthians 1:5 reads, "That in every thing ye are enriched by Him, in all utterance, and in all knowledge. I want to be enriched by God in my speech and in my growing knowledge of Him.

5. Greater Love for People
I want an even greater love for people. I want to have compassion for people like Christ has. I want to feel even more connected to the body of Christ and treat brothers and sisters in Christ like my blood brothers and sisters. I want to give of myself to others and naturally put the needs of others before my own.
