Discretion for the Godly Girl

Discretion for the Godly Girl

The word discretion is mentioned many times in the book of Proverbs in the Bible. Nowadays, discretion is not a word used very often but it is so important for a woman because if we’re not careful we can place ourselves in situations that are potentially dangerous, not only spiritually and mentally but could lead to physical danger as well. However, discretion is a powerful weapon that we can use in our everyday lives that will keep us from falling into pitfalls and traps that the devil will try to set up. For 1 Peter 5:8 reads, “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:” We can avoid a lot of pain and pitfalls if we are watchful and use discretion in our everyday lives. So just what is discretion? I’m so glad you asked. According to Merriam-Webster Dictionary, discretion is defined as the right to choose what should be done in a particular situation or the quality of being careful about what you do and say so that people will not be embarrassed or offended or the quality of being discreet.

Have you ever wondered if you should court a particular individual, or if you should stay in an environment that is tempting? Well in situations such as these one should use discretion. If you want to court someone just to chase away your loneliness then you should run the other way.  And if you’re in a tempting environment you should always run. But if you are making your decisions without using discretion then you could end up in world of trouble. God will restore you but what if you could have continued smooth sailing in your walk with the Lord instead of meeting unnecessary bumps in the road? The answer is simple. Choosing to be discreet wins every time. If you err on the side of caution in any situation that could potentially bring you harm, then you can win EVERY TIME!  In Proverbs 2:11 it states, “Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee:” So if you want to remain protected out of reach of the enemy use discretion every time because as Godly women of God we have to set the example and continue to walk out our Christian lives in purity and truth free of mangled webs and bumpy messes.

"Keep sound wisdom and discretion: So shall they be life unto thy soul, and grace to thy neck." Proverbs 3:21b-22

My Top Five Songs of the Spring 2016

My Top 5 Songs of the Spring 2016

Same Power by Jeremy Camp
If you love Easter like I do then you probably listened to this song for the holiday, but I try to remain aware of what Christ did for me all throughout the year so that I can lay claim to the power of the blood. When He died He took not only my sins, but my sickness, griefs and so much more. So if I meditate on the fact that "the same power that rose Jesus from the dead lives in" me then I can be victorious in my walk with the Lord all year round as can you! This song is simply wonderful!

It has a unique, upbeat sound that makes you relive the day you received Christ over and over again and allows you to languish in the joy and exuberant jubilee you experienced on that very special day in your life!

The Search is Over!

The Search is Over!

Have you grown weary trying to find the right one for you? How the years crept past and left you feeling hopeless in this regard? Well there is great news for you! If you know Jesus Christ as your Savior then you have found the Right One! Your search is over. You no longer have to search endlessly for the right one. Society breeds this lie that you need to have a mate to be completely fulfilled but that is a lie from Satan. If that was the case how did Paul live a single life? How did the widow Anna devote her life to fastings and prayer if she couldn’t be completely fulfilled by Christ. I’m in no way suggesting that marriage won’t bring happiness into your life, but fulfilment can only come from our Creator God. So stop searching endlessly for Mr. Right because God will bring him into your life if it is in His perfect plan for your life. God is enough and you’ve found the Right One ALREADY! Praise God!

What is My One Purpose in Life?

What is My One Purpose in Life?

What is your one purpose in life? Is it to help others or to help yourself? If you’re prone to become inward often you may struggle with the answer to this question. But the answer is simple. Neither. Your one purpose in life is to bring glory to God. Yes you help yourself by accepting Christ into your heart and allowing Him to cleanse you from your sin. And yes Christ will change you from the inside out which will cause you to help others and show love towards your fellow man. For the bible says in Philippians 2:4, “Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.” But is that your purpose in and of itself? No. Your sole purpose is to bring God glory. If you accept Him into your heart and show His love to others then you WILL bring glory to Him but if you approach it from either stance, you can lose sight of why you are helping yourself and others.

If you wake up each morning and you say my objective is to look out for myself and others today, you can grow weary. But if you wake up each morning and say “My objective is to glorify God in all I do today.” It points the focus to God and reminds you that you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you (Philippians 4:13). It gets the focus off of you. And it compels you to be all that you can be for the Lord. Then the objective is not to please yourself or people but to please God. May we all live our daily lives to please the one and only true God! Praise God!

~Even every one that is called by my name: for I have created him for my glory, I have formed him; yea, I have made him.~ Isaiah 43:7

When God Says No

When God Says No

April 13, 2016

Place: Classroom
“Ms. Williams, can I switch this chromebook for number 22?” Her student asked.
“You need to use the one that you have been assigned,”  she said softly.
“But Ms. Williams I don’t want to use chromebook 28,” the student whined.
After he asked her several times, she finally relented and told him he could use the one he wanted to use as long as she changed the number on the list.

Have you ever asked God for a husband, job, promotion, a particular position and you receiving a resounding No or you didn’t get what you asked for?

When the incident above happened, God opened my eyes to a spiritual truth. He showed me that if He gave us what we wanted every time we asked for it, we might become proud or turn away from the Lord by getting what we want too fast. When God says no, it doesn’t always mean that He’s never going to give us what we ask for, but that we need to wait for it until it’s the right time. As humans, sometimes we relent to pressure when someone is begging continuously for something. But God is different, He won’t give in to our begging and pleading if it is the wrong time for us to have it because He loves us that much. He is all knowing and He can see our paths ahead of us. For Job 23:10 says “But He knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.”  God knows that if we get what we want too soon it can hinder our progress spiritually, so He withholds it until we are truly ready. God loves us soooo much. I begin to see the depth of His love when He revealed this aspect of Himself to me. He truly does love us enough to say no if it is for our good. I praise God that unlike me in the above excerpt, He doesn’t give in and give us what we want in areas that could hinder us spiritually and that He looks at the bigger picture and wants the very, very best for his precious children. Oh how he loves us so much. Praise God for his matchless love. There is no other love like the love of our Father, which is perfect and selfless in nature.
