Honor the King: A Political Yet Non-Politically Note

Honor the King: A Political Yet Non-Politically Note (Unedited)

WARNING: No political pun intended.

As Christians we have an obligation the 1st to stand for biblical principles obviously. I cannot and will vote for someone who goes against my biblical principles. The second is to respect whosoever is in authority rather he/she is your preferred candidate or not. God commands us to honor and respect kings in authority. Honor all men; love the brotherhood, fear God, honor the KING. (1 Peter 2:17) Obey your LEADERS, and submit to them; for they keep watch over your souls, as those who will give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with grief, for this would be unprofitable for you. (Hebrews 13:17) Despite our democracy the president position is still in line with that of a modern day king.

The president is in one of the greatest leadership positions in the whole United States. I’m not here to get into a political debate, that’s not what this note is about. Politically, I stand with the bible and I'm 100% against SIN.  This article takes the position of respect for leadership,or rather the lack thereof within the Christian community.I have been generally appalled at the rise of  brazen disrespect, particularly within the Christian community. Since President Obama has been in office, I've heard Christian comments and seen Christian magazines with statements like: he's dumb, God hates him, he's the antichrist, he's the devil to saying he’s crude and rude disrespectful jokes. Is that how you would want to be treated?

What must the liberals think, when they see such crude propaganda being propagated from within the “Christian community”. This just doesn’t apply to Obama but all the men and women in leadership that are disrespected by Christians. I’ve seen Christians give more respect to a secular atheist film star, than I have the President of the United States or a Politician.

There are many examples of Great men of God who respected the secular Kings in power (not supported their wrongdoing, but respected them). Here are some examples: Daniel respected and even worked for Nebuchadnezzar, David respected Saul, and even Jesus the son of God respected Pilate and Herod.Jesus says   Mark 12:32 (KJV)   Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.

Perhaps it’s time to get off this agenda of defaming the President at every turn. He needs salvation like so many others and that can only happen through prayer and being a true witness of Christ. Perhaps it's time to look deep in your heart and identify the cause of this bitterness and let it go. Perhaps it's time to seek God's face concerning the issues at hand. This country will progress when people's hearts progress towards God again. The President is only a pawn in a much bigger plan. It is often said hate the sin and love the sinner. The love of God his grace and mercy  needs to be extended to the president , because Jesus died for him just as he did for you and me.

I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— 2 for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. 3 This is good, and pleases God our Savior…” -1 Timothy 2:1-3
